Ministry of Transport (MOT) has established MRDC as a coordinating body for rail sector to steer the development of railway industry in Malaysia. The entire development will be based on sustainability principles

Advisory and Consultancy Role to The Government

To design, develop strategies and plan, monitor, coordinate, implement and provide the Advisory and Consultancy role to the Government to support the rail development in Malaysia, which includes but not limited to maximize the usage of local content, encourage technology development and know-how, enhance collaboration in research, development and commercialization, facilitate investments and human capital development in order to sustain Malaysian rail industry and technology for economic growth.

Industry Lead Body (ILB)

To be an Industry Lead Body (ILB) to plan, formulate and implement integrated rail programs in Malaysia and internationally and become the focal point with rail service operators and international rail-related companies to agencies, higher education institutions, research centers and industry.

Strategic Collaboration and International Outreach

To carry out strategic collaboration and international outreach function to develop all aspects related to the national rail industry and will work with all stakeholders in developing and increasing the involvement of local companies including to provide a centralized platform and the hub and the front-line interface for international and local industry players to interact and to provide professional advice on Rail Industry.
