Meeting with State Government Penang

A courtesy visit was held at the office of Dato Mohd Zakuan Zakaria, TSUK of the Penang State Government together with Zuhair bin Jamaluddin, SUB, BPEN, Dato Lim Hock Seng, Head of the Transport Section, and officers from JKR and SRS.

The Chief Executive Officer of MRDC, Hasry bin Harun has given a presentation on the functions and responsibilities of MRDC which is an agency under the Malaysian Ministry of Transport that leads the national rail industry and develops local industry expertise through human capital development, local industry improvement through the localization program (VDP), testing and certification as well as research and technology. In addition, MRDC has presented the direction of the nation’s rail industry holistically and improving the efficiency and safety of the rail transport system for the people.

MRDC has also presented a proposal to collaborate with the Penang State Government to organize an international rail symposium which is expected to be held on 6th and 7th November 2023 involving panel of speakers from international industries such as South Korea, the United Kingdom and Germany. The symposium which will be held in Penang aims to provide exposure to local rail industry stakeholders as well as to encourage academic students on the latest rail technology at an international level.
