BENGKEL KUMPULAN FOKUS BAGI PENYEDIAAN KERTAS PEMBENTANGAN MAJLIS TINDAKAN EKONOMI NEGARA (MTEN) – KEMAMPANAN FISKAL PENGANGKUTAN AWAM LEMBAH KLANG

MRDC thrilled to be part of Rail Solution Asia 2024 in Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on 15th May to 17th May 2024. This event was officiated by KTM Berhad From the 13 May 2024 to 17 May 2024, the Malaysia Rail Development Corporation (MRDC) participated in a workshop organized by the Ministry of Transport (MOT) at the Putrajaya International Convention Center (PICC). This was a follow-up to the 2024 Executive Committee Meeting of the National Economic Action Council (MTEN), YB Rafizi Ramli, Minister of Economy requested MOT to prepare a presentation paper regarding “Fiscal Sustainability of Public Transport in the Klang Valley” to be presented in July 2024. Fiscal sustainability in the context of public transport in the Klang Valley refers to the ability to ensure a stable and financially effective public transport system, without burdening the government resources or the public in the long-term.’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Datuk Mohd Rani Hisham Samsudin. It’s a platform whereby the rail industry leaders converge to explore cutting-edge solutions for the future of rail transportation. From enhancing efficiency to promoting sustainability, MRDC is committed to shaping the next generation of rail innovation.

During the five (5) day workshop, MRDC together with relevant Ministries / Agencies, Asset Owners and Rail Operators work together and have proposed several effective initiatives/ mechanisms to increase the usage of rail transport by the public. These findings were then presented to YBM Anthony Loke, YBM Rafizi Ramli, Secretary-General Dato’ Jana Santhiran and other high-level officials.

MRDC will support the Government’s efforts in enhancing the current public transport and also will work with Rail Operators to develop an efficient rail transport with the aim to convince residents in the Klang Valley to shift the use of private vehicles to public transport with the aim of reducing traffic congestion and improving the quality of life of residents.
